Don't just hear the word

Don't just hear the word

But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing. James 1:22‭-‬25 ESV

Command. Be a doer of the word. The word that should be implanted (James 1:21). The word that is able to save our souls should be acted on.

James 1:21 ESV Therefore put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.

A person who hears the word (that is able to save our souls) but does not act on it is receiving themselves.

The word is like a mirror that reflects who we are. When we hear it and do not act on it then we will forget who it says we are. By acting on the word it helps us to remember the word. It requires perseverance to hear the word and act on it. We will be blessed by acting on the word.

TAKE ACTION.
