Full of Weeds

AW Tozer said “an unexamined Christian life lies like an unattended garden”

Psalm 139:23-24 ESV - Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting!

Whether it is landscaping or a garden it is not just plant it and forget it. It takes constant evaluation and nurturing. A garden or landscaping that is unattended will soon be full of weeds and these weeds will choke out the fruit or the beauty of the landscaping.

The Christian life is no different. We cannot just put our faith in Jesus and then not nurture or pull weeds in our life. We as Christians need to constantly examine our lives and ask God to search us, examine us and convict us when we are not being obedient.

If you have ever been to the Grand Canyon you know that the river did not cut that deep of a gorge overnight. It happened over a long period of erosion. Erosion starts with just a little gully and if left unchecked will create a major ditch. The time to stop erosion is at the very start. It is easier to clean out your garden or landscaping daily rather than waiting until it is overrun with weeds.

God - search me and know my heart. God see of there is any grievous way in me. God lead me in the way of life. God point out any weeds or erosion in my life now.
