"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor." And he rolled up the scroll and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on him. And he began to say to them, "Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing."
Luke 4:18-21 ESV
1. Jesus came to proclaim the good news to the poor. Poor means to be without. Jesus said blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. There are many people around us every who are without God or lacking a relationship with God in their life. We need to proclaim the good news that they have access to God through Jesus.
2. He came to set people free. Many people feel like they are trapped. Maybe they are in a generational curse, maybe they are addicted, maybe they just in a bad place they can't seem to get out of. Jesus is liberty. Jesus is freedom.
We need to always be proclaiming the name of Jesus to people because it has power to change people forever.
