Honduras Devotional 3/11/2017

Honduras Morning Devotional Saturday 3/11

1. Stupid Rooster. I pray he meets Jesus soon or is eaten by his owner.

2. that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death,
Philippians 3:10 ESV

Paul said, "that I may know Him".

Why does Paul want to know Him.

Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ
Philippians 3:8 ESV

The worth of knowing Christ is beyond measure. It is worth more than the things we have and the things we don't have. It is worth more than the things we are working for a day dreaming of. As I think about the June 22 community (People who live off less than 2 dollars a day) if they have Jesus they have something of infinite worth. If someone in the US who has all kinds of stuff but doesn't know Jesus then they have rubbish. Paul says that all those things we have in comparison to Jesus are trash.

We spend so much of our time chasing trash instead of pursuing knowing Jesus more.

3. I was talking to Brad Lederman yesterday at dinner. He said that finally at La Mesa when he is sharing his devotional people are starting to be quiet and listen. After many LA Mesa meals and service to the people Brad has finally earned the right to be heard. This is what ministry is, it is earning the right to speak Jesus and display Jesus into people's lives. Are we earning the right to be heard with the people around us? People need to know that we care about them as people before they will listen to us about the surpassing worth of knowing Jesus.

I hate that I will miss Refuge tomorrow and the potential snow.

Do you KNOW Jesus and his worth?
